WISPR Vaporizer Review

WISPR Vaporizer Review

New For Review: The WISPR Vaporizer. This brand-new portable butane unit is getting a lot of hype and just came out so a wispr vaporizer review is due so my readers can get the information they need before they buy wispr vaporizer.

The portable WISPR vaporizer is made by the same company that makes the Iolite Vaporizer, so right there you know you’re dealing with a reputable firm. Oglesby & Butler have over 27 years’ experience dealing with heat controlled units.

wispr vaporizer

  • 1 can of butane
  • instruction manual
  • moisture condenser
  • heater mesh screen
  • 7 dot filling chamber
  • flexible mouthpiece

This WISPR Vaporizer is basically a newer and smaller version of the Iolite model. Because it’s new, it’ll set you back a little more than the Iolite. You can expect to fork over $230 for the WISPR. Is it worth it?

The manufacturer states that the WISPR features an upgraded butane delivery system as well as mouthpiece, both of which have been patented. The way the unit is designed, you’re able to stand the WISPR up as well as hold it at any angle. Another big plus is the butane fuel level that you can check at any time. (Speaking of butane, when getting refills down the line, please remember to use a high quality butane with any vaporizer. This is very important!)

As with the Iolite, the WISPR boasts a long continuous vaporization time. The manufacturer claims that because of their charge, you can use the WISPR continuously for up to three hours. Pretty good.

 Our Testing

wispr vaporizer review

In terms of quality, we found that the WISPR does indeed seem to produce a higher quality vapor as compared with the Iolite. Is it enough of a difference to warrant the higher price? We say “YES” with this footnote: If money is really tight for you, buying the Iolite remains an legit choice. Both are very solid units from a reliable company. Either will suit the needs of anyone looking for a small, portable, high quality vaporizer. That being said, this WISPR unit is just a step up.  It is awesome and I personally use this as my portable vaporizer of choice.

We will put the WISPR vaporizer in the same category as the Iolite, so: BMW Range it is.  This is the b est portable vaporizer on the market right now.  The WISPR comes in five (5) different colors, so you can have the same fun of picking your favorite color as you would in buying a car.

EDIT:  Recently, there has been huge press about the WISPR in a lot of big name publications including wired and gizmodo.  The articles are just little blurbs and don’t give any real good info, but it is cool to see that the popularity of the WISPR is exploding as more and more people buy wispr vaporizer. To read a blurb I wrote about this recent explosion, click here

we really like our new Wispr. They took all the good things about the Iolite and made them better.Very easy to activate And has a helpful fuel window so you can tell when it needs fuel. so far we have no complaints. They must have listened to their users because this is a great vaporizer.

so legit. totally worth the money. it is super portable but I mainly use it at home. so clean, so efficient. I also have an iolite (which is also amazing) but this is certainly an upgrade.

Just read a review in wired magazine about it, which led me to order it thru your site here last week. Got it today (on the weekend, perfect timing) and WOW am I impressed. totally worth the money.

I’ve had my orange Wispr for about 3 months now, I have to admit it really has become my best friend. It is super discreet and you can’t even stress walking through a busy mall or at a bus stop with it. A fill-up of butane lasts a healthy 3 hours or so of use, it all depends on the environmental temperature, really. I wouldn’t recommend drowning it between your legs or somewhere completely air tight while it is burning, it doesn’t vape the herbs as well, a jacket or pant pocket works great. Properly clean, tasty little sips and thick cloudy rips. I recommend the Optimizer to go with it for sure.

don’t be cheap, get the wispr. I bought the magic flight and returned it. spent the extra money and never looked back. I’ve used mine multiple times a day every day for the last 6 months and haven’t had one problem. I’ve used it outside and inside. this thing rocks

Mike November 23, 2011 at 2:49 pm

Can it vapor oil and jellyhash?

v8vantage November 23, 2011 at 6:39 pm

Mike, yes it can. Usually the best way is to do a mixture of herb + whatever concentrate you want

Matthew November 23, 2011 at 6:13 pm

ordered mine thru this page with vapeworld. awesome experience. fast instant email confirmation, discreet shipping and billing, and of course the wispr unit itself ruuuuules.

The wispr is very very nice. It is an excellent way to get the most out of your stash, very efficient, no waste, no smell and the effect is a pleasant smooth feeling. I am a runner and started using the vaporizer as a way to cut down on the harsh effects on the lungs when you burn the weed. It is a great investment.

I’m in market for a portable vaporizer, and based on your site, I’ve narrowed it down to this wispr and the arizer. But one question, when flying, going thru security, is there any issue with butane not allowed on carry ons? just wondering if that is a flag, certainly don’t need these TSA goons taking it from me

v8vantage February 1, 2012 at 7:52 pm

Butane on a plane is iffy because butane lighters are not allowed, but butane powered curling irons are. If I had the wispr and wanted to travel with it I would empty it out and just refill at my destination to be safe. Also please be careful when traveling with vaporizers. I always suggest fully cleaning it with alcohol and make sure it is 100% sterile.

Does the device eliminate the characteristic herbal odor?

v8vantage February 3, 2012 at 9:13 pm

I wouldn’t say it “eliminates” it, but it is different. It is not the same characteristic herbal odor.

Timis February 7, 2012 at 9:15 pm

My Wispr arrived today. This is a simple yet elegant device. I bought the Wispr as my only Vape over the Volcano for portablility reasons. This unit is stealth and Im not disappointed at all. The vapor quality is just a notch down from the volcano. For that reason I give it a 4.5 out of 5.

I’ve had the iolite (the second prototype with better heating pin) for about three years. I payed $200 for it… i have to say hands down it is the best, most convenient, best investment i have made in my smoking years. You only have to use .2 of a gram to get the full effects…. opposed to a whole gram joint. This contraption is so durable. And concentrates and bho oil/ wax is sooo good! This is the abuse my iolite took and still has not broken. (not purposely abusing it, just over time)
1. Dropped multiple times, even kicked.
2. left in the rain outside for 2 days.
3. dropped while driving car at 30 mph… possibly ran over by other cars.
4. my friend tried to pry it open to “fix it” but it was working fine anyways.

I cant wait to purchase the wispr!

Sean March 2, 2012 at 6:53 am

My wife got me a Wispr as a valentine’s day gift (awesome wife!) and she paid about $300 CDN (plus butane). I already have a Happy Vappy which I use pratically every day for the past 5 years, but it’s electric and wanted something portable I could carry when walking aroung the city.
The Wispr is definitely worth the money and does what it’s supposed to do, as well as being nice and compact.

Some issues I have – not that I wouldn’t buy it because of these issues – are the plastic shell, which I fear won’t survive a drop and the rate at which the butane burns…a full “tank” lasts about 5 or so sessions.

WReaves March 22, 2012 at 12:07 pm

I am on the fence about a vaporizer. Need to stop smoking but concerned about vaporizer and the taste. Can you still taste the bud? Think its gonna be the wispr…..

Bobby Bohemeth April 2, 2012 at 4:07 pm

WReaves > Vaporizers are definately the way to go if you’re a regular toker/smoker. The taste is magnificent (very herbal) without the toxic by-products of smoking. You will notice the difference in taste as well as your lungs! They will thank you after only 2-3 days of use. I’ve been smoking for 14 years and trust me, it takes its toll on the body over time…

Having 2 vaporizers for home use, I will also be buying a WISPR for portable use :) you should get one. Best investment for your health you’ll make in a long time.

rp April 2, 2012 at 5:58 pm

Has anyone tried putting the optimizer in it? And for how many pulls should visible vapor be produced? I have one and it gets me very high but I feel like I’m getting less visible vapor than some other people suggest it produces.
